Hello!
So I've decided to write a blog while I'm abroad. As many people already know, I'm going to Kenya and Tanzania for three and a half months to study wildlife and the environment. I'm going with The School for Field Studies and will be getting the full African experience (meaning no electricity or plumbing). We'll be living at base camps around Mount Kilimanjaro (talk about a backdrop) and will be going on game drives practically everyday.
Many people have been asking me, "why Africa?" Most people who study abroad go to the UK or somewhere else in Europe, which is cool and all, but I just wanted to go somewhere more exotic, where I can do more than just study at an international university. One of my favorite travel writers said that you go to Europe to see beautiful things but you go to Africa to have experiences and adventures.
I leave on February 3rd and spend about an entire day in the air before landing in Tanzania. After arriving in Tanzania, we'll be driven across the border to Kenya. Only about a month left before I leave and I could not be more excited! Vaccinations are done (All eight shots and three pills), most of my supplies have been bought, and now I just have to pack...
Oh yeah, I'm also going to Rome on my way back in May for about 2 weeks, so I'll post about that too!
Hopefully I'll keep up with this and keep you all entertained with my adventures and mishaps
Asante Sana!
